CANDY RAE GOES TIMELESS: CHANEL SUITS YOU

The Chanel suit is one of the most iconic ensembles of all time. When you see the woollen wonder, which words come to mind? For me, it’s a mixture of power, elegance and sophistication. The influential two-piece made its debut in 1923 and completely revolutionised fashion. The heavy emphasis on waist definition of times past was replaced with simple, easy to wear designs.

Let’s take a look at how the heroic Chanel suit has evolved over time…

THE TWENTIES

Enter the embroidered cardigan jacket and knee length skirt.

THE FIFTIES

The new suit shape complete with a collarless jacket challenged the popular Dior New Look giving women an alternative to cinched waists and full skirts.

THE SIXTIES

Didn’t Jackie look divine?

THE NINETIES

Now of course the Original Supermodel Squad rocked the micro mini version, it only makes sense – WERK!

THE NOUGHTIES

In recent years, Karl Lagerfeld has made reference to the original blueprint. Knee length skirts are oh so sophisticated.

Fashion must evolve over the years, and the Chanel suit has certainly stood the test of time. Thank you for your innovation, Coco.

Love, Ms.Rae xo
