The festive season is upon us! Wishlists have been created, and shopping is in full swing. In retrospect, 2012 has been a great year for fragrance. I have experienced a range of top, heart and base notes, swapped precious woods for lemons and roses (and vice versa), joined in on the celebrity buzz and ignited a wonderful sense of nostalgia with timeless classics.
Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Summer EDT 100ml – £35
Cult classic JPG Classique had a makeover this summer: featuring refreshing lemon and rose, vibrant ylang-ylang and warm vanilla. This romantic fragrance is reminiscent of those summer days that turned into summer nights.
Lacoste Touch Of Pink EDT 90ml – £27
I have wanted to try this girly wonder since it was released in 2004. Touch Of Pink is a refreshing combination of fruity and floral notes which reflect youth and femininity. A touch of orange and cardamon make way for hearty jasmine, vanilla and musk. It’s super girly and super cute.
Va Va Voom
Paco Rabanne Lady Million EDP 80ml – £47.49
This scent screams ‘va va voom’. Channel your inner supermodel with a stunning combination of neroli, gardenia, patchouli and honey. Oh hi, glamour.
Roberto Cavalli EDP 75ml – £61.50
It’s one of those ‘walk out of the room and leave your scent behind you’ kind of fragrances. Which just so happens to be my favourite type of scent. I like my fragrance to make a statement and this glamorous combination of Italian green mandarin and pink pepper with orange flower, mirabelle plum and roasted tonka beans does just that.
Hugo Boss Deep Red EDP 90ml – £35
People always enquire about my fragrance when I’m wearing Deep Red. This hearty, sophisticated scent combines strength and femininity with energy and intimacy. A burst of pear, clementine and blood orange work in harmony with butterfly lilly, precious woods, and hearty musk. Some say that it’s too powerful for daytime wear, but the strength is exactly what I’m drawn to. Who says you have to follow the ‘rules of fragrance’?
Agent Provocateur Petale Noir EDP 100ml – £69
This intriguing deep floral scent ignites the senses with an oriental powerhouse of mandarin and violet leaves, invigorated with a floral combination of cassis blossom and rose absolute notes. It’s like drama and serenity in one spray.
Kim Kardashian True Reflection EDP 100ml – £40
This self-reflective scent embodies Kim Kardashian’s evolution as a woman. It’s a warm, feminine cocktail of plum, peach and Italian bergamot, harnessed with gardenia and patchouli. Can someone say sultry?
Live by Jennifer Lopez EDP 100ml – £14.99
One spray of this vibrant fragrance and you’re instantly transported to J to the L- O’s Waiting For Tonight video circa 1999. This fragrance is all about energy and sensuality. Loud Italian orange, Sicilian lemon and pineapple are combined with spicy violet, redcurrant and sandalwood to provide that superstar glamour.
The Ultimate Classic
Chanel No.5 EDP 100ml – £92
No Candy Rae fragrance roundup would be complete without a shout out to the oh so timeless Chanel No.5. This super stylish scent not only reminds me of Marilyn Monroe’s infamous choice of ‘nightwear’, but of the glamour that I grew up admiring, courtesy of my dear Mother Rae. This chic combination of ylang-ylang, mayrose and jasmine instantaneously provides a sense of sophistication and luxury.
I wonder what 2013 will smell like…
Love, Ms.Rae xo
