How quickly has this year gone?! Seeing as the year is drawing to a close, it’s only right that I get little retrospective and show some appreciation to the hero items that have sustained my wardrobe.

So without further adieu, The Candy Rae 2012 Must-Have Awards go to:

The Military Boots
I have honestly lived in Military boots for the past three years, and as a result my collection now consists of various styles. Laces, buckles, studs, straps…the list goes on. They’re super cool, super urban and super versatile. How many times can you say super in a sentence?

The Black Leggings
We all know how I feel about leggings. They are an absolute wardrobe staple. Casual enough for when you’re not in the mood and smart enough for when you are. Perfect.

The Black Skinny Jeans
Like a good pair of black leggings, black skinnies go with everything. Skinny jeans are a staple for me in general, but I’m drawn to the black variety. Whether it be denim, leather, wax-coated, you name it – I’ve got it.

The Long Bodycon Vest Top
This is one of those must-have multi-purpose items. You can wear it over leggings and jeans, under tops and jumpers, with oversized cardigans and so much more. My wardrobe would not be complete without this bodycon Lycra wonder. Come to think of it, I should get more colours…(any excuse to go shopping).

The Jumpsuit
My wardrobe is home to tailored, glitzy and casual jumpsuits for work, parties and everyday wear. There’s a jumpsuit for every occasion. The trusty all-in-one is perfect for those *insert frustration* ‘I DONT’ KNOW WHAT TO WEAR!!!!’ moments.

The Maxi Skirt
2012 has been the year of the maxi skirt and I have loved every single minute of it. It’s one of those pieces that you can dress up or down and wear all year round. For me, it was maxi skirts with strappy tops in the summer, and maxi skirts with jumpers in the winter.

The Oversized Silk Shirt
I love, love, love silk shirts, add an oversized cut and I’m set! My style draws a lot of reference from the 1980’s, so you’re very likely to see me rocking oversized silk shirts in various colours with the buttons done up right to the top.

The Leather Bag
We all need a good quality bag. My bag holds my life. Everything’s in there: phone, make-up bag, hairbrush, nail file, diary, hand cream, umbrella, pens, sweets…shall I continue? Size and durability are key components when it comes to bag selection. Leather all the way!

The Leather Jacket
If a new law stated that we could only own one jacket, I’d choose a leather (or pleather) one. Looking back over the year, it has been the one jacket that I have been able to wear throughout every season. Can someone say versatile?

Why do I have a feeling that the Candy Rae 2013 Must-Have winners will be very similar?
