I often wonder why the Costume Institute Gala (more affectionately known as the Met Ball or Met Gala) doesn’t get anywhere near as much coverage as any other red carpet affair – according to DKNY PR Girl (Aliza Licht) ‘it’s the Oscars of fashion’ and I completely agree. It’s here that you see the stars really pushing the boat out and going against the grain with more daring ensembles/hairstyles than they would wear to the more conservative Oscars, Golden Globes and the like.

Last night’s ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ theme showed us what fun avant garde fashion is all about – all in favour of themed red carpet events say I! Who saw Sarah Jessica Parker’s headpiece? FIERCE. And what about the hair of the night? I’m not sure who caused more of a stir between Anne Hathaway’s platinum blonde pixie cut and Nicole Richie’s amazing silver surfer-worthy grey/blue style.

I think that E! should give us live coverage of the Met Gala next year so we can all swoon at our TV screens – who’s with me?
