East End drinks innovator and founder of the award-winning Hoxton Pony and Hoxton Gin, Gerry Calabrese has taken the London Fields drinking and dining scene by storm with his latest project Wringer + Mangle: modern European fare with a unique take on afternoon tea.
Set in a former industrial laundry building located in the heart of East London’s most vibrant and stylish area (directly opposite the renowned London Fields Brewery) Wringer + Mangle boasts an industrial yet warmly vintage 250-cover bar and restaurant with reclaimed wood, moody bronze low-hanging lights, Victorian lamps, and perfectly placed artwork and Russian ivy plants. Guests are able to enjoy alfresco drinking and dining all year round with the relaxing all-weather terrace kept warm by a fire pit. So vintage, so chic.
Cocktail and cake lovers unite at the regular ‘Wringer + Mangle Tea Parties’ held everyday from 2pm-5pm. Not to be mistaken for reserved and quiet affairs, these contemporary tea parties spice up the classic afternoon tea idea with modern day mixology: a selection of finger sandwiches and cakes with gin cocktails presented in large self-cooling infusion jars and served in vintage teacups. Call it East London cool with a splash of Mad Hatter hysteria for groups of 4 or more at £30 per person.
Wringer + Mangle also offer daily afternoon tea (from 2pm-5pm) with a traditional array of delicate sandwiches, pastries, cakes, hand selected teas and champagne at £18 or £24 per person, depending on whether you opt for a glass of fizz or not.
Their motto? ‘Community, creativity, fun and of course fantastic food and drink’.
