LOUIS VUITTON AND THE WORLD’S MOST FAMOUS BAG

Trends come and go, but there are some brands who will almost certainly stand the test of time. In the ever-changing yet equally cyclical world of fashion the only way to stay relevant is to continually adapt, reinvent and inspire whilst staying on-brand. One pioneering brand who has done so since the very early days of luxury fashion is none other than Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton is the second oldest luxury fashion house (Hermès being the first). The brainchild of Mr. Louis Vuitton himself, the brand started on its way in 1854. Vuitton was a trunk maker and packer by trade who started his own workshop, solely serving the French elite. He crafted his game-changing trunks with canvas in the iconic monogram and damier prints.

Clearly passing down an unmatched eye for detail, Vuitton’s son Georges went on to introduce the first Louis Vuitton weekend bag, the Keepall; which was large enough for an overnight stay yet compact enough for light travel.

The bag offering later expanded with the release of one of my personal favourites, the iconic Speedy. The Speedy climbed the style ranks in 1960 when Audrey Hepburn wore the 25cm version (a size she personally asked Louis Vuitton to customise for her). The Speedy range later expanded; featuring the 25cm, 30cm, 35cm, and 40cm versions.

The famed Alma, Noé, Neverfull handbags followed, with the introduction of the next generation – the Capucines, Twist, Petite Malle and many more in recent years.

Without forgetting decades of timeless clothing, footwear, jewellery/timepieces, fragrances, small leather goods, and travel lines, it goes without saying that Louis Vuitton is most famed for its revolutionary handbags. From the most affordable Speedy 25 (RRP £720) all the way through to the splash the cash Limited Edition City Steamer (RRP £41,444), there’s something for everyone.

NEW MENU: A Taste of Aster

As far as great tasting menus go, Aster’s latest six-course addition is pretty special.

The ‘Taste of Aster’ menu has launched in partnership with Laurent Perrier. Created by Executive Chef Helena Puolakka, the menu is both inspired by the world’s greatest kitchens and the chefs she has learnt from – including Gordon Ramsay, Pierre Koffman and Olivier Mourellon.

Combining bold flavours from Norway with authentic rustic cooking techniques from France, diners are taken on an exciting journey.

The menu starts with a Gordon Ramsay-inspired of scallop carpaccio with a sea buckthorn curd and lemon juniper dressing. Followed by a well-balanced and truly Parisian potato mousseline with smoked vendace, bleak roe and dill oil inspired by Pierre Gagnaire.

The following three courses are inspired by Helena’s time with Pierre Koffman: foie gras poached in port with tender swede, baby spinach and a fennel melba, var confit salmon with green apple, anchovy and crispy kale, and roast Anjou pigeon with turnips, January king cabbage and a vin jaune sauce.

The final course embodies the Aster brand. Inspired by ex-pastry chef at Aster, Olivier Mourellon, and Nordic flavours, a complex and intricate dish of spiced beetroot sponge with a chocolate ganache and smoked beetroot sorbet really ties it all together.

The six-course tasting menu can also be enjoyed with a Laurent-Perrier Champagne pairing. Guests can choose from NV Laurent-Perrier Brut Rose, NV Laurent-Perrier Harmony Demi-Sec, and NV Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brut.

THE PEAR TREE CHRISTMAS MARKET

The most wonderful time of the year is drawing near, how exciting?! When the quest for some festive fun begins be sure to add the Pear Tree Christmas Market to your list.

Head to Battersea Park on the 2nd and 3rd of December for a truly wonderful experience. Located on Pear Tree Café’s terrace, set amongst trees adorned with twinkling lists overlooking a frosted boating lake, 30 vendors will sell artisan food and drink as well as handmade and luxury gifts.

Founders Annabel Partridge and Will Burrett have selected a great round-up of vendors, from foodie favourites Alpages Swiss Alpine Cheese, Rococo Chocolate, Cannon & Cannon cured meats, relishes by Rubies in the Rubble, loose leaf tea and ware by Good and Proper Tea and Wiston Estate sparkling wine, and on the less edible side of the spectrum; handmade woven rugs by Francesca Gentilli, unique footwear by Rouge Matilda, and cutesy stationery by South London Letter Press.

A personalised gift hamper service will also run throughout the weekend, allowing shoppers to choose their own baskets as well as treats and trinkets. The Pear Tree Christmas Market will have all bases covered.

Touted as a ‘weekend of winter wonderment’, the Pear Tree Christmas Market will host a BBQ from 12pm featuring exclusive dishes such as The Pig in Blanket Hot Dog with prunes, pancetta and balsamic onion, alongside a variety of meat-free options: brussel sprouts and chestnut skewers with date syrup, molten cheese with charlotte potatoes, and cornichons with pickled pearl onions. To top it all off, Pear Tree Café will host an evening supper, featuring pulled pork sliders, pickled apple and red cabbage, and turkey schnitzel brioche bun with cranberry sauce, melted brie and radicchio. Meanwhile, the Pear Tree Hatch will serve sausage rolls, mince pies, hot chocolate, and mulled cider.

BLUEBIRD BONFIRE

Bluebird Chelsea
Famed Chelsea hotspot, Bluebird, will be hosting a special Fireworks night celebration on the 4th of November.

Expect a seasonal array of toffee apples, slow cooked pulled pork from the rotisserie, and a range of exclusively curated firecracker cocktails to mark the occasion.

Bluebird will transform into ‘a tangled wilderness’ with a walnut, amber and burnt red themed courtyard, autumn trees dressed in twinkling lights, hanging apples and haystacks, finished with baskets of seasonal shrubs. Guests will undoubtedly feel all warm and fuzzy inside as they get cosy under thick blankets by the log piles, snack on roasted chestnuts from the open flames and sip on mulled wine and gin cocktails.

Located just a short walk across the bridge from Battersea Park, guests will also be invited to end their evening in style with a mesmerising fireworks display.

An autumnal dream.
