Yesterday, ‘The Nutty Italian’ aka ‘the pizza to rival all pizzas’ emerged from the stone ovens of Bunga Bunga, Battersea. I had the pleasure of sampling the new Bunga Bunga x Nutbourne creation, and it was nothing short of wonderful.
The concept comes from a great partnership between unrivalled chef talent from two of London’s top restaurants – Bunga Bunga, and Nutbourne. Bunga Bunga’s very own quirky kitchen team has officially added The Nutty Italian to its fantastic pizza menu (their pizzas are huge, both in size and taste).
As Nutbourne brings a taste of the countryside to the city, Bunga Bunga, delivers unrivalled Italian fare with generous (affordable) portion sizes and fun entertainment. The two kitchen teams have collaborated exclusively for the first time to create the ultimate cross-border crust.
At just £12, The Nutty Italian features a classic Italian stone-baked dough, with local English ingredients from Nutbourne’s very own chef team. The combination of ingredients include: red grouse, homemade mushroom marmite, Chanterelle mushrooms, Applewood cheddar, caramelised onions, garlic, and thyme. Red grouse? I hear you ask. I wondered the same thing, and was honestly surprised. A red grouse topping isn’t something I’d usually choose but change is here. The woody and smoky taste of the red grouse married with the zingy Applewood cheddar works a treat.
Combining Gladwin’s (the team behind Nutbourne) passion for serving Londoners the very best in seasonal, sustainable British produce with Bunga Bunga’s famous quirky Italian pizzeria atmosphere, has made The Nutty Italian recipe one for well-deserved success. The Nutty Italian will be on offer until Spring at Bunga Bunga, Battersea.
With noteworthy pizza, an extensive drinks menu including very Italian Prosecco, and Peroni, immersive live entertainment, and a real buzzy yet laidback atmosphere – it’s a dining experience like no other.
You won’t be disappointed.
