TAKE IT TO THE STREETS: NEW YORK FASHION WEEK AW18

New York set the ball rolling for Fashion Month, with all of the trends we need to know about for Autumn/Winter 2018, both on and off the runway.

Let’s take a look at some of my favourite sartorial snaps from the streets of New York, captured by street style aficionado, Tyler Joe (for Harper’s Bazaar).

FASHION WEEK ON THE STREETS: LONDON MEETS NEW YORK

6_large

We’re in the midst of one of the busiest times of the year for fashion, and what an inspiring time it is!

New York Fashion Week was amazing, and London Fashion Week was amazing. Milan Fashion Week will be amazing, and Paris Fashion Week will be amazing too (how many times can you say amazing without seeming crazy?).
Seeing as there is so much amazement going on, it’s only right that we pay homage to the fashionistas that came out to play over the past two weeks.

Let’s take a look at the snaps from snowy New York, and (surprisingly) mild London that have caught my eye over the past two weeks. Courtesy of beloved Tumblr, of course.

A truly fashionable affair from two of the biggest fashion capitals in the world. Where to next? Milan, and then Paris. Let’s go!

NYFW – SS13 BODY

Were you too busy to jet set over to New York for Fashion Week? Never fear, Ms.Rae to the rescue. I’ve rounded up my favourite SS13 trends as seen on the catwalk…from my desk.

What to look out for:

SPORTS CHIC
As seen at Phillip Lim and Max Azria.
Sporty separates get a grown up makeover. Think minimalistic with a urban twist. Mix and match sporty tees with sharp tailoring.

FREEFLOW
As seen at Tracy Reese and Donna Karan.
Floaty silhouettes set on a black, white and nude palette.

UTILITARIAN
As seen at Belstaff and Alexander Wang.
Military goes glam with chunky jewellery and sky-high heels. Introduce leather and metallics into the mix, and hey ho – just call yourself ‘Glam Officer’.

PRINT IT
As seen at Peter Som and Marc Jacobs.
Prints are here to stay. If you’re feeling daring – place print on print. Long gone are the days when print clashing was a no-no.

PLEASURE PRINCIPLE
As seen at DKNY, Theyskens Theory, Reem Acra, Victoria Beckham and Carolina Herrera.
Think feminine, think powerful. Steal the show with sleek tailoring and sultry evening dresses.

Autumn has only just begun, yet here I am pining over all that Spring has to offer. A resounding round of applause for New York Fashion Week is in order!
